The Teen Advisory Group will sponsor an Essay, Short Story and Poetry Contest in honor of Teen Read Week. This year’s contest shares the theme “Created Equal” with the We The People Bookshelf books the library received in a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Contest Entry forms will be available onlinr and at all library locations on September 8 and must be returned to the library by October 6. Entries will be judged by members of the Teen Advisory Group. Winners in each category will receive a prize and have their winning entry posted in the library starting October 12.
Teens in grades 5-12 are eligible to participate.
This year’s theme for the contest is “Created Equal”. Participants are encouraged to submit Essays, Short Stories, or Poems about what “Created Equal” means to them. Participants may submit an entry for more than one category. There is no word limit for entries.
Participants must have their name and phone number written on their entry AND must complete the entry form and submit it with their written work.
Entries must be returned to a Jackson County Public Library location by October 6.
Entries will be judged by Teen Advisory Group members. Copies of the winning entries will be posted in the Teen Scene Room at the Seymour Library and at the Crothersville and Medora libraries and on the Discovery Bus starting Monday, October 12.
Winning entries in each category will receive a prize.
