Land sales provide some of the major records for tracking ancestors.
Land records are useful for locating individuals in sparsely settled areas where early federal census takers may not have found and recorded them. Reading the introduction to each work with land records is useful in understanding the arrangement and what is included.
Jackson County deeds and deed indexes from 1816 to 1924 along with some swampland, probate and partition records are on microfilm at the Seymour Library.
